Senior Accountant

Job Summary

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for providing financial support by maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring financial transactions are recorded timely. This position will analyze costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to forecast future revenues and expenses. Prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports. Additionally, this position will set up and utilize financial models, assist in identifying areas of improvement and implement best-practices to facilitate a positive financial impact.  May require CPA certification.

Essential Functions

Accounting:  

  • Manage the accounts payable process from vendor creation, validating approval and system entry
  • Support the accounts receivable process such as invoice creation, receiving payments and collections.
  • Monthly accounting close (accrual)
  • Provide A/R detail to designated staff
  • Documentation of accounting/finance policies & procedures
  • Periodically perform review of best practices in Accounting/Finance
  • Organized filing system (both physical and online)
  • Prepare information and statements for audits…both internal and external
  • Liaison to 3rd party CPA firm
  • Comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings and reporting
  • Ensure company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements

FP&A:                                                           

  • Maintenance & analysis of weekly/monthly reporting for PIR Tracker, Utilization, Project Profitability, Days Spent in Status, etc. reporting
  • Monitor, analyze and report on key business metrics and performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing variances.
  • Develop creative and insightful analysis of business issues and data sets to inform senior leadership and drive effective decisions in support of the company’s strategy and objectives
  • Assist in the annual planning process
  • Participate in ad-hoc requests, projects & analysis

Operations:

  • Complete due diligence for potential clients (where required)
  • NetSuite maintenance and learning
  • Add new projects to NetSuite
  • Maintenance of projects in NetSuite
  • Provide project reports out of NetSuite to PM’s
  • Creation and maintenance of weekly High Dollar Report

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to present financial information to a non-financial audience
  • Deep intellectual curiosity and strong drive to “crack the problem”
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Detail-oriented and able to perform in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to be a self-starter and take ownership under tight deadlines while managing multiple projects and priorities and drive them to completion
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other related financial systems
  • Experience in NetSuite is strongly preferred

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in financial planning, analysis, and modeling
